The Maestrazgo is one of those regions that seems made for motorcycling. Deserted roads, pristine asphalt, and a constant sense of being disconnected from the world.
This route winds through Catalonia, Aragon, and the Valencian Community, linking mountain passes, technical sections, and smooth roads where you set the pace. Here, it’s not about racing, but about enjoying every kilometer, every stop, and every landscape.
The experience revolves around the concept of SlowRiding: riding with intention, stopping when the surroundings call for it, and experiencing the motorcycle beyond just the act of riding.
The stretch along the legendary Silent Route is the highlight of the trip, but not the only one. Historic villages, scenic overlooks, and roads you never want to end make for a route that’s as balanced as it is addictive.
Stages of the motorcycle tour through the Maestrazgo
Day 1. Barcelona – Horta de Sant Joan
The route begins in Barcelona, heading toward the Garraf Natural Park and winding along secondary roads toward Vilafranca del Penedès, the wine capital of the Penedès region. Amid vineyards and winding roads, we arrive at the Royal Monastery of Santes Creus, one of Catalonia’s great Cistercian complexes.
After passing through Valls, we climb toward the Mussara mountain range, with breathtaking views of Tarragona. Some of these roads have been part of stages of the World Rally Championship, ensuring a technical and fun route. The route continues through the Priora region until reaching the Ebro River.
If conditions permit, you can cross by boat, adding a unique touch to the day. After lunch at a typical local restaurant, the final stretch takes us to Horta de Sant Joan, at the foot of the Els Ports Natural Park.
Day 2. Horta – Cantavieja
We’re now deep in the Maestrazgo region. Our first stop is Valderrobres, with its walled historic center and imposing castle.
We continue on to Morella, riding our motorcycles along its city walls—one of those scenes that stays with you forever.
From here, mountain passes follow one after another until we reach the Valdelinares ski resort, one of the highest paved points in the area.
The final descent takes us to Cantavieja, one of the most beautiful villages in the Maestrazgo, where the stage ends.
Day 3. Cantavieja – Flix (Silent Route)
This day is highlighted by the legendary The Silent Route, one of Spain’s most iconic motorcycle routes. From the very first few miles, we find ourselves immersed in secluded landscapes and roads that blend seamlessly into the mountains.
Along the way, we encounter iconic landmarks such as the “Caimán,” the Benatanduz Castle, the town of Pitarque, and the Órganos de Montoro, spectacular rock formations. A stop at the famous sculpture on the Silent Route is a must.
The route continues toward Alcañiz and Batea for lunch. In the afternoon, a veritable sea of curves leads us to the Santa Maria de Berrús chapel, with magnificent views over the Ebro River. The stage ends near Flix.
Day 4. Flix – Barcelona
The return journey begins once again on roads that have served as the setting for the World Rally Championship. Our first stop is at a viewpoint linked to the Spanish Civil War.
We continue on to Cartuja de Escaladei, a historic site where monks established the Priorat wine-making tradition.
Then, we wind our way through the curves toward the Prades mountain range until we reach the Monastery of Poblet, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Nearby is Montblanc, a walled medieval town perfect for a final stop before returning via secondary roads to Barcelona, where the route ends.
